This was a 4 stop progressive dinner run that left Shreveport Harley-Davidson at 11:30 a.m. with 12 bikes. We had perfect riding weather ~ partly cloudy and about 70 degrees with a few sprinkles around, but never on us. Our first stop for chips and dips was in the historic section of Shreveport off Fairfield on Dalzell Street at Phil's Mom's house. This is a unique old house build in 1911 with a lot of history and a great back porch. Joyce had all kinds of chips, dips, and tortillas with cheese and a mexican dip that was everybody's favorite. Our next stop was way down in Keithville where Cindy had prepared taco soup and all the fixings ~ that took away the morning chill. We visited on the patio by the frog pond for awhile, got our picture taken from the roof, then fired-up the bikes and proceeded on our way ~ over the hills and through the woods to Hall Summit to see what April had waiting for us. The ride to Hall Summit was a great ride that routed us down close to Mansfield, over to Coushatta, then up US 371 to April's house. After stuffing our faces with hot dogs, and visiting around the "H-D only bike port and patio", we busted a move back to the big city and over to Sheri's house for our final stop and dessert. Sheri had chocolate cake, pecan pie, cookies, and more, waiting for us and we did our best to eat it all! Needless to say, we were stuffed by now and ready to lay on the couch, or floor, or whatever, for awhile. After a good visit, the sun was trying to set and it was time to say adios to everyone and head to the house. So, that's how it was ~ a great day of riding with good friends and good food... what else could you ask for?! These kinds of rides don't happen by accident... thanks, Patti, for organizing this event. It was a hoot! Next time somebody says, "Progressive Dinner Run", you need to say, "I'm there!" |
