Shreveport Chapter's Year Long Program for 2009

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.

There are 709,820 active geocaches around the world.

HOG Chapter: We’re going geocaching. Throughout the year, I’ll lead rides to several geocache seeking locations using my GPS. The general location and mileage will be provided, but you will get to search for the cache, and we’ll log our finds at geocaching.com

Towards the end of the year, our chapter will hide a geocache for others to find. So, start thinking now about items you might want to place in a small container for others to seek. Also, on our geocaching rides, bring small items such as pins, or other memorabilia to trade, since it is common to trade items when you find a geocache.

At the end of the year, those members who have completed ten finds will receive the ten find geo achievement set, and if you really get into it, and complete 100 finds, we’ll order the 100 find geo achievement set for your reward.
