From Jimmy's Notes...

The trip out was good, we did Bossier City to Austin on Monday. Austin to Ft. Stockton on Tuesday, saw over 200 wind turbines for electricity generation between Ozona and Ft Stockton, along I-10. Ft Stockton to
Big Bend on Wednesday, 130 miles. Wednesday afternoon & Thursday was riding in Big Bend park area (Rio Grande Village to Castalon to Study Butte to Terlingua back to the park lodge). Friday morning in the park
area then to Ft Stockton and on to Brownwood (430 mile day). Saturday was Brownwood to Crawford (Western Whitehouse store and stop) to home (another 400 +mile day).

We stayed on the paved roads in Big Bend park area, never got on the "improved roads" (which are just graded gravel). There are lots of places to pull off and park, then hike into areas for the back country nature
trails. Gas station in Panther Junction and Rio Grande Village and Study Butte. Most expensive gas was $2.30 per gallon down in park area.

Lots of hiking trails around the Chisos Mt. Lodge, good clean hotel/lodge and restaurant, room was $93 per night with taxes. All rooms have double beds, no king size beds. The lodge rooms with balcony looking west towards the "Window" are great for evening, sit on the porch and watch the sunset, several whitetail deer come out and feed behind the rooms. Good camping sites in the Chisos Basin lodge area.
